Have you ever wondered how believers in the Old Testament were saved? Jesus did not die for sin until thousands of years later. So, was sin forgive before Jesus died?
Was it the animals they sacrificed that paid for sin (Heb 10:4)?
Did God forgive their sin if they the obeyed the 10 Commandments (Gal 3:10-14)?
Did God forgive people in the Old Testament because they were Israelites (Rom 9:7)?
Well, Genesis 15 shows us the way people were forgiven and saved from the penalty of sin is by faith (Gen 15:6). This is the way it always was, always has been, and always will be. So, the only way to be saved from the penalty of sin, the wrath of God, and eternal punishment is by faith in Jesus Christ.
