Culpability and Consequence

Genesis 27, along with it's bookends of the marital exploits of Esau in 26:34-35 and 28:1-9, gives us the detailed accounts of the blessing of the firstborn that is passed to Jacob, who obtained the blessing by lying and deception.
In fact, it was more than simply Jacob who sinned -- it was all four of his family members were culpable in this grand scheme. Each of them, in their own way, was trying to subvert and divert the blessing of God in the direction and destination that each of them wanted. The result of their sin is a fractured family.
Yet, in the middle of all this, we will see that God's plans for his promise cannot be overpowered.
