Genesis 39: God's Presence and Promise in Prosperity and Peril
Wayne Luna
In Genesis 37, a young teenage Joseph was chained as a slave, void of any human hope or help. Jospeh also possessed every human reason to hate his brothers, hate God, and incessantly complain about his circumstances. By all appearances, he had been abandoned by God and man.
He could have chose to hate life, hate men, and hate God. But Joseph -- young teenage boy that he was -- chose to trust God, chose to honor God, and chose to hold on tighter to his faith in God. Joseph did not abandon God. God also did not abandon Joseph. He was present with Jospeh and kept his promise to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, through Joseph too.
