Futility and Sin
When Alice journeyed through the looking glass in Lewis Carroll’s famous fantasy, "Through the Looking Glass," Alice met a queen who claimed to be “one hundred and one, five months and a day” old.
“I can’t believe that!” said Alice.
“Can’t you?” the Queen said in a pitying tone. “Try again: draw a long breath and shut your eyes.”
Alice laughed. “There’s no use trying,” she said: “one can’t believe impossible things.”
“I daresay you haven’t had much practice,” said the Queen. “When I was your age, I always did it for half-an-hour a day. Why, sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.”
I daresay most people in this world must sympathize with Alice. You can’t believe impossible things – resurrection from the dead? But it is really impossible to believe? This week, we examine 1 Corinthians 15:12-26 and (1) if Christ is not raised from the dead, (2) that Christ is raised from the dead, and (3) what the means for you.
