Resurrection Life - Colossians 3:1-17

Tristan Raymond

This Easter Sunday let us explore the resurrection life. Because Christ has been raised from the dead, all who are united to Him by faith now share in His resurrection life, which gives them a new identity. As Paul teaches in Colossians 3, believers have been raised with Christ, died to their old life, and now have their lives hidden with Christ in God, secure and destined for future glory. This resurrection reality means that Christ Himself is now our life, reshaping how we see who we are. No longer defined by sin, guilt, or worldly pursuits, Christians are called to set their minds on things above, living out of a renewed heart that desires the things of God and rests in the assurance of salvation accomplished by Christ’s finished work.

This new identity naturally leads to a new manner of living and a new purpose. Sharing in Christ’s resurrected life means putting off the old self—marked by sin, idolatry, and self‑centered desires—and putting on the new self, which reflects the character of Christ through love, humility, forgiveness, and holiness. Empowered by the Spirit, believers are called to live transformed lives that display the gospel in both word and deed. Ultimately, the purpose of this resurrected life is to glorify God in everything, finding true satisfaction in Him alone and doing all things in the name of the Lord Jesus with gratitude and joy.
