Tears and Tossings

There are times in life when it seems that suffering, pain, and trials are overwhelming. Our companions may leave us, and it seems like the only friend we have is darkness (Ps 88:18). In the darkest of times, we can have a tough time trusting in God's plan for our life (Ps 88:6-8). We can think, "Why is this happening to me?"

What do we do in such times? How do we find peace and hope when all we can see is darkness? The Psalms are replete with answers to tough questions like this one. And the Psalms point us to look to God and trust in him, even in the midst of our darkest times. We are to look to the Lord, to call on his name (Ps 88: 13).

In Psalm 88, we you can see that in the middle of intense suffering that God is still the God of your salvation (v. 1), and Jesus has overcome through suffering (Isa 53:4-5; Jn 12:27).
