Wisdom at a Funeral

There is a lot of wisdom to be learned at a funeral. When you think about funerals, they are a kind of final evaluation of a person’s life. Amon those who are still living, a funeral is a celebration of the gift of life that God gave the person, then there is a summary of a person’s life and (even if unspoken) an evaluation of the person’s life. Yet, Christians know that the evaluation that ultimately matters is God, who has the power to destroy both body and soul (Matt 10:28). In this passage Solomon is going to point us to death so that we would live a life of wisdom (cf. Ps 90:12). This way, when we are evaluated by both man and God, we will hear "well done, good and faithful servant" (Matt 25:23).
